We are looking to recruit a Psychology Lecturer to join our Business and Science School based at our central Leeds campus on a fixed term contract until April 2026.
We are open to applicants in all areas of Psychology, but we are particularly interested in hearing from those with a specialism in teaching Individual Differences (e.g. diversity in personality and intelligence) and applied areas of forensic, business or computer-human interaction.
As a Psychology Lecturer you will design, develop, and deliver learning and teaching across a range of Psychology modules. Ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of teaching programmes according to the University’s strategy, contributing to activities that influence leading-edge practice, and undertake evidence-based applied practice activities.
Starting salary between for Lecturer between £40,250-£42,250 and Senior Lecturer between £48,000-£53,000 depending upon skills, experience and PQE (plus Location weighting of £1,550)
As a Psychology Lecturer at The University of Law Business and Science School, you will:
- Teach and assess across the University of Law course portfolio in such subjects assigned to you. This will include teaching and assessing students across a range of written and oral skills and giving individual feedback on students’ performances.
- Assist in the preparation of assignments and assessments.
- Participate in course design and review.
- Act as an academic coach to students, including being available and willing to discuss students’ problems as they arise, their performance and academic progression
- Assist in marketing, widening participation and extra-curricular events.
- Supervise student dissertations and research projects.
We are looking for individuals who are/have:
- Masters degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
- Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PgCHE)*
(For Senior Lecturers – Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and PgCHE are both required)
- Enjoy being challenged (by students and course content in equal measure)
- Adapt to the different learning styles of students and methods of course delivery
- Eager to share your expertise and become involved in all aspects of enhancing the student experience
*If you are applying for the Lecturer position and do not currently have/are not undertaking a PgCHE or an equivalent qualification, it is a requirement that you will enrol into the programme (delivered and financially supported by the University), within 18 months of passing probation.
Please note - For Senior Lecturers: You will have developed significant expertise in application and practical delivery of a range of teaching techniques, pastoral care, mentoring colleagues, assessments and marking, team leadership.
