Are you a strategic storyteller who can bring people together through the power of communication? We’re looking for a dynamic Head of Internal Communications to lead our colleague engagement and communication strategy here at The University of Law (ULaw) ensuring every colleague feels informed, inspired, and connected to our purpose.
This is a newly created fixed term contract position reporting to the Chief People Officer, but partnering with senior leaders across the university as required. Our ambitious growth and diversification agenda has a number of time-bound initiatives planned for the next 18 months – and this is where we need your expertise in shaping how we communicate within the university. You’ll design and deliver creative internal communication strategies that support change, celebrate success, and strengthen our culture of collaboration and transparency.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across the organisation including the Office of the VC/CEO to ensure clear, consistent messaging. From leading engagement campaigns and digital communication projects, to supporting leadership visibility and employee voice, your work will make a real impact on how colleagues experience life at ULaw.
The position adopts our homeworking persona where you will be required to reside within the UK.
As our Head of Internal Communications, you will:
- Develop and deliver innovative internal communication strategies to support our strategic objectives and organisational transformation. embedding our values in all that we do.
- Create engaging written, audio and video content for multiple platforms, including our intranet and SharePoint sites.
- Partner with leaders to embed consistent and authentic communication practices across the University.
- Design and deliver campaigns and events that drive engagement, motivation, and pride in our shared purpose.
- Support crisis and change communications with empathy, transparency, and clarity.
- Track and evaluate the impact of communications through colleague feedback and engagement metrics.
Is this you?:
You’ll be an experienced internal communications professional with a strong understanding of engagement best practice. You’ll have a creative flair for crafting compelling messages, the confidence to influence at senior levels, and the emotional intelligence to connect with colleagues at all levels.
- Proven experience leading change and engagement communications.
- Strong writing and storytelling skills with exceptional attention to tone and nuance.
- The ability to design and deliver multi-channel communications at pace.
- Experience using digital tools and emerging technologies to enhance engagement.
- A proactive, collaborative and empathetic approach to communication.
