You will be working directly with apprentices to develop their work-based skills and prepare the apprentices for their end point assessment, according to the University’s strategy, policy, and procedures, contributing to activities that influence leading-edge practice, and undertake evidence-based applied practice activities
This is a permanent, homeworking/remote position (with travel to university campuses and Law firms)
Please note: the Skill Coach roles are being offered on a full-time and part-time basis (minimum of 3 days a week)

As a Skills Coach/Senior Skills Coach at The University of Law, you will:
Deliver high quality coaching and support for learning and skills development
Contribute to effective design and review of inclusive learning. Maintain quality standards and regulations in curricular design.
Identify and respond to the needs of individual apprentices and their circumstances.
Sign-post apprentices on pastoral aspects during their learning journey. Refer apprentices as appropriate to services providing further support.
Routinely communicate complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers using high level skills.
Supervise apprentice portfolios and the academic elements of work-based learning
Provide effective support to students in their continuation, completion and progression outcomes.
We are looking for individuals who have:
Qualified as a Solicitor or Barrister in England and Wales
Relevant teaching/coaching qualification or willingness to work towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) (coaching route)*
Sufficient breadth and depth of professional experience in the relevant discipline to develop teaching programmes and learning support
Able to communicate complex and conceptual ideas/information to a range of groups
Professional, credible, commands respect
Organised with excellent prioritisation skills
*Please note that if you do not currently hold this, it is a requirement of the University that you will enrol into the programme (delivered and financially supported by the University), usually within 12 months of passing probation
