vacancy Researcher Support Manager
Shape the future of research support – and help others thrive
At The University of Law, we’re looking for a Researcher Support Manager to join our Library & Learning Skills (LLS) service.
LLS at the University of Law provides the professional expertise and high quality, relevant, accessible resources to equip our students and staff with the information literacy, digital and academic skills to navigate learning and teaching at the University of Law with confidence, and to excel in their lives beyond. LLS colleagues (c.40 individuals) may work at a physical campus, remotely, or both, but there is a focus on collaboration across teams and locations, and opportunities to develop and support one another in every role.
As our Researcher Support Manager, you will be joining the University at a pivotal point in the development of our research activity and the support available for researchers to enable this. This role will be key in proactively shaping and delivering relevant services and support within LLS, particularly in relation to the institutional repository and Open Access (OA). Working closely with senior colleagues involved in research activity across the University, this post will lead LLS provision, helping to raise awareness and confidence for all current, or future, active researchers.
You will:
- Advocate for and shape the research support activities provided by LLS
- Partner with academic colleagues to capture their research and scholarly activity
- Develop and deliver training and guidance aimed at researchers and colleagues involved in supporting research activity
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the University’s emergent institutional repository
- Collate research outputs to support any future Research Excellent Framework (REF) submission
Is this you?:
- Experience in supporting research (or research data management) and working with an institutional repository
- An interest in academic research and willingness to lead work in this area and make recommendations to key senior colleagues, including the Director of LLS
- Comfortable building provision from an early stage, working proactively and flexibly on own initiative
- Ability to build relationships and advocate for the value of research and the importance of OA compliance, explaining complex processes and ideas
- Able to demonstrate understanding of the LLS context via a relevant professional experience relating to teaching or librarianship
Why join us?
Along with a starting salary of £42,000 per annum, you’ll enjoy:
- A generous annual leave entitlement of 30 days (plus bank holidays)
- Private Medical Scheme and Life Assurance
- Contributory Pension Scheme
- Season Ticket Loans and Student Discounts
