We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join our Academic Excellence team as an Academic Developer – Professional Practice Lead This role is central to the strategic direction and implementation of the academic development programme to foster teaching excellence, inclusive practices, and colleague engagement in continuing professional development (CPD)
This is a full-time permanent position, working 35 hours per week where you will work fully remotely from a home-based location within the UK.
As our Academic Developer – Professional Practice Lead you will leading the Advance HE Fellowship scheme, as well as developing a Teaching Toolkit (a set of resources for colleagues across the University). You will also:
- Develop and lead the University’s academic colleague development strategy, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and external regulatory requirements
- Establish frameworks for academic coaching and professional development that promote excellence in teaching and learning practices.
- Oversee the design, delivery, and evaluation of CPD programmes with the Director of Academic Development and Research and the Head of Organisational Development, including workshops, seminars, and resources tailored to academic colleagues’ needs
- Co-lead organisation of events, such as the annual Festival of Learning and Teaching
- Collaborate with the Academic Developer - Inclusive Practice Lead to embed inclusivity and innovative teaching methodologies into programme designs
Is this you?
- Doctorate (e.g. PhD, EdD, etc.) in a relevant discipline, a Higher education teaching qualification, e.g. PGCHE and Senior Fellow of AdvanceHE (SFHEA)
- Substantial experience of academic colleagues’ development, including in credit-bearing programmes, e.g. PGCHE, MA Education
- Experience of supporting colleagues in achieving Fellowship of AdvanceHE
- In-depth understanding of higher education pedagogy, including inclusive and research-informed teaching practices
- Ability to inspire and motivate academic colleagues to achieve excellence
- Reflective practitioner
